Is your partner suffering YOUR sleep apnea (OSA)?
Some time ago I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea and it was by accident – my wife had mentioned my snoring sound for some time. But then I literally started kicking and jumping in his bed to "revive" my breath again. Worse still, the morning I felt exhausted and over time, developed all the symptoms of OSA. My health began to deteriorate and that I knew had to do something about it – my family life suffers because I was very quick temper.
When we speak of the victim OSA, we often forget partner. They may suffer with you getting enough sleep. Remember, there are several occasions where you may make a snoring sound, suffocation or move your legs uncontrollably and this wake too May your partner. He or she may then develop symptoms similar to those who suffer from OSA and tension in the relationship or marriage may increase.
What are the options you have to treat the problem? If you look to the Internet, as you are now, you’ll find pages of promises and guarantees money back if a product does not work for you. Not knowing where the problem lies, you will probably be unable to handle disappointment and pretend that all the gadgets on the market are garbage. The cheapest may not always be the best, but works for some.
Think about it – we are all different from each other as well as our anatomy, including the nose, pharynx and throat. You are therefore entitled to assume that a medical device is not as fashionable dress off the bay, but it must be individually tailored to your needs.
For many years, oral devices and palate have this negative stigma attached to them in the general population does not believe will work for them, but individual installation is the key to a successful conclusion.
A recent Australian study conducted in Sydney NSW shows that oral appliances are preferred by patients and equal in May the results of a CPAP machine. Snorers, however, often can not get a CPAP machine. Even if they are recognized as the most superior treatment for OSA, CPAP has poor patient adherence. This means that up to 75% of users stop treatment with the device after paying lots of money.
The key to success with devices palate / oral is to identify the problem and settle where you snore first. Devices should be used if the problem is medical restrictions such as nasal congestion, temporary and / or flu-like symptoms. Mouth breathing is often the result of these symptoms and in turn causes the "throat" where the language snoring folds and begins to vibrate. You know about this when you wake up as your throat is very painful and dry.
First and foremost, you must have a clear nasal passages to breathe. Consult a physician or a specialist if this is not the case, because the nose is an important body function that has humidifying, filtering and warming of the air we breathe. However, if your nose is clear during the day, there is no reason not to stay the same when relaxing evening.
So if you are able to breathe through the nose during the day, you should be able to do the same thing during the night. Otherwise, the tissues in the soft palate (behind your nose) may collapse and cause snoring or OSA. A device palate may be the answer. While palatal devices are relatively new on the market, the results of medical tests are surprisingly about the same uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP) surgery or short, but without the pain and side effects.
